Harper Community College has made an extensive addition to their current administration building to provide a conference center with multiple types of instructional spaces. The building has been designed to facilitate students in continuing education and short term credit courses, and also as an outreach facility for use by area businesses and corporations for conferencing and workforce/vocational training.
The Instructional Conference Center has have a 250 seat auditorium, two sixty-person break-out rooms, four thirty-person break-out rooms, and four seminar rooms. The building design also features a two-story lobby space and a large dining hall that overlooks the north lake on campus. The building and each of the instructional spaces are completely interconnected to the campus computerized information systems, including satellite downlink, and have thorough teleconferencing capability. The third floor is used exclusively for administration offices including the president’s suite and an executive chambers.
The 51,000 square foot Center is physically linked to the existing administration building for passage between the two. The addition’s exterior relates to the existing campus architecture and also enhances the contemporary style. This facility is one of three different new construction projects that Burnidge Cassell Associates has developed for Harper College.
