Before
The Judson College Administration saw a unique opportunity when the Elgin Inn was put up for sale (Before photo on the right). Located at the I-90 Tollway interchange and Route 31, and being adjacent to the college campus: could this structure be reclaimed for use by Judson College? This was the question asked of Burnidge Cassell Associates. The hotel layout of the building satisfies the housing needs for the college with minimal alteration. Judson also expressed the need for additional classrooms and student service areas.

As the program developed, the upper four floors have been designated for student housing, the second and third floors redesigned into classrooms and office spaces, and the lower level reconfigured to serve as student service areas and lounge areas. The existing single story east wing has been redesigned to become the Judson College Business Conference Center, which includes several meeting rooms accommodating from 24 to 108 persons. These spaces are used by the college as well as outside businesses and the community.

After

The building’s exterior was changed to reflect the academic use by Judson College. The Lindner Center is a prime example of an adaptive re-use project that satisfies the needs for an expanding Judson College campus.
