This 4000 square foot addition doubled the size of the Mount Morris Public Library. The expanded and remodeled library features an enlarged children’s section with a puppet stage / story area. A new reading area centered on a fireplace gives adult patrons a comfortable place to relax with a good book. We also added a public meeting room that can be used outside of normal library hours without compromising library security.

The construction was phased to minimize the impact the library’s day-to-day operations. The project phasing plan developed by BCA enabled the library to operate during nearly the entire construction process. When construction of the addition was complete, the library moved into the addition while the original library was remodeled. This project was completed in winter of 2002.

Careful attention to detailing and an appropriate selection of materials will result in an addition that is exciting yet still works within the architectural context of the original library.
